When Fiction Knows the Truth Before You Do

Every so often, a writer has one of those light-bulb moments — when you realize that a piece of your own heart has been living inside your story all along.

For the longest time, I believed Unfinished Melody belonged entirely to Emma — her heartbreak, her rediscovery of love, her second chances. But recently, while reading through old journals, I found something that stopped me in my tracks. I realized that part of me had been in Emma’s story from the beginning, even though I never planned it that way.

After my own heartbreak years ago, there was someone who reminded me what it felt like to feel again. We never dated, but he gave me a reason to smile, to hope, to believe that love wasn’t gone forever — just waiting to come back around. He was the first spark after the storm.

That’s exactly who Adam became for Emma. I see now that he wasn’t just another character — he was a reflection of that same truth: sometimes, love reenters your life quietly, through small moments, through someone who helps your heart remember how to beat again.

It’s amazing how stories can hold pieces of us long before we recognize them. Maybe that’s the real unfinished melody — the one that keeps playing softly in the background, waiting for us to finally listen. 🎵

Writing Unfinished Melody has reminded me that every story we tell carries echoes of who we once were. I think that’s what makes storytelling so powerful — it’s a mirror, a memory, and a melody all at once.

Molly Prescott of Unfinished Melody is more than Emma’s big sister—she’s a force of her own. At 38, she’s standing at a crossroads, navigating divorce, motherhood, and the rediscovery of dreams she once tucked away. Fiercely loyal and sharp-witted, Molly has always been the protector, the realist, the one who shoulders the weight so others can shine. But now, for the first time in years, she’s learning how to put herself first.

With her dad’s brown eyes and a few gray streaks threading through her dark hair, Molly wears her story with pride. Her style is part stage-crew grit, part star-on-the-rise, and her heart is still chasing Broadway lights—whether in local performances or big city dreams. She’s a mom to two teenagers (a 19-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son), and her balancing act between family, ambition, and personal growth makes her one of the most relatable voices in Unfinished Melody.

And here’s a fun bit of backstory: before fame and screaming stadiums, Molly once dated Jason and Jeremy from Block 213. It didn’t last, but it’s the kind of story that lingers—a little spark of the past that makes you smile at how small the world can be.

Molly isn’t just Emma’s sister. She’s a woman rediscovering herself—bold, brave, and unapologetically stepping into her own spotlight. Her journey may be messy, but it’s honest, and it reminds us that strength often comes from starting over when the world expects you to settle.
